One of the least talked about A-lister celebs when it comes to fashion is Matt Damon. Not that he doesn’t look great and all – he does. His look is, well, that just-peeled yourself off the couch and have to leave the house look. And that’s perfect because most guy’s don’t want to fuss with their fashion too much. So if you’re a man’s-man, like Matt Damon is – but are looking for a little sartorial help – then check out some of Matt’s best looks to copy and paste from.
There’s way too many men wearing powder blue, even pink polo shirts they got back in the 90’s that look totally dated on them. Not too mention too large as well. Here’s Matt rocks a perfectly fitted navy polo and – the best part – with his navy slacks. Men, going tonal is always a solid look.
Back To Black
We hate to repeat ourselves here, but going tonal always works! There isn’t a man alive that couldn’t pull off this black on black getup, while looking ridiculously sophisticated doing it.
Here’s a look that always has, always is, and always will be in. Take note of the tailoring of Matt’s jeans here; not too loose – but as a man over 40 shouldn’t be rocking – not too tight either.
What’s so special about his tux here? The tailoring. 20 years from now Matt can look back at this pic and say to himself “damn I looked good.” Unlike all those who wearing super trendy, super tight suits with Capri-high cropped pants.
Cashmere crewnecks are a man’s wardrobe staple. Like Matt here, you can never go wrong in muted, neutral colors.
A dark blue t-shirt, grey 5-pocket pants, black derbies… are you noticing a theme here, men? Neutrals, neutrals, and neutrals. There’s nothing wrong with dressing like a storm cloud.
This old photo is a perfect example of how Matt’s a style icon. Look at his buddy Ben with that tie too-wide, baggy pants, and god-awful shirt. Then take a look at Matt – classic. That’s what makes a real style icon; their ability to look good no matter what decade.
Here He Goes Again
It’s clear Matt likes his black-on-black look for special events. Hopefully it’s clear for you too that you can never go wrong doing the same.
After The Gym
The best part of his outfit (besides his sexy arm candy) – the hat. Yes, sometimes you can look a little bland wearing just a t-shirt and jeans all the time. But throwing on a logo’d hat that pops from the rest of the outfit gives it just enough edge.
If you’re ever wondering why some guys wearing the exact same thing as you look so much better in their outfit than you do, aside from perhaps being in better shape, they quality of what they’re wearing. Just from this photo alone, you can tell that Matt’s jumper (sweater) did not come from the dollar store. We hate to say it, but dressing better does require you to spend a bit more.
Dad Jeans Done Right
We hinted at this before; if you’re a man over 40, you’ve got to chuck the skinny jeans. They’re for kids and do nothing to flatter you. Matt’s jeans here are your regular fit jeans. They skim his legs – which is what they should do to yours – not make love to them.
In The Navy
If you’ve learned nothing from this style lesson so far, then just remember this one. Every man should have a navy suit in his wardrobe. It’s the most versatile thing you can own. The jacket (blazer) dresses up jeans and khakis, and the pants can be dressed down with a grey or navy t-shirt.
